Hello! I’m Anna.

I am a Humanistic Gestalt Counsellor and I work in central Cambridge.

Having been a youth worker for over 10 years I have extensive experience working with teenagers and young adults both in schools and colleges and at a variety of youth work settings. I’ve seen first-hand how prevalent and widespread mental health issues are, and I trained as a Counsellor to be better equipped to walk alongside people as they navigate difficult times in their lives.

I now work with a variety of adults, young people and students and am based in central Cambridge.

Research shows that if you get a counsellor you feel comfortable with, get on with, that you trust and feel understood by then the therapy itself will be more effective. So here is some info about me to help you decide if I might be a good fit for you:

So what type of counsellor am I?

Firstly, I am a normal person! I have benefited from counselling myself and know it can be extremely powerful. I know how scary counselling can be and also how much it can help. I work hard to make sure counselling isn’t weird or intimidating and that you feel safe enough to open up when you want to.

I will let you lead the sessions and talk about whatever you want to- these are your sessions and they are for your benefit, so I will respect your pace, subject matter and opinions. Together we will create a safe environment for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences and choices. As well as talking, I sometimes use creative materials such as playing cards, post it notes, pens and paper, and objects like buttons and stones to help us explore and articulate your thoughts and feelings.

I have experience of working with people with issues around subjects such as;

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Anger
  • Addiction
  • Stress
  • Sexuality
  • Gender identity
  • Health related issues
  • Conflict
  • Relationships
  • Identity
  • Spirituality

I am also committed to making counselling accessible to all. If you have any extra needs, mobility issues, hearing or sight issues or conditions such as Epilepsy or Autism Spectrum Conditions (or anything I haven’t mentioned!) I will do my very best to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. Please let me know how I can accommodate your needs.

‘Anna had a very relaxed and professional approach to the sessions. She always delivered the sessions at a pace I found comfortable and was always patient with me if I needed a more directive approach sometimes. I always felt I could express myself clearly as she made me feel at easy from the very first moment…’
