Welcome

Hello! I’m Anna and I’m a Humanistic Gestalt Counsellor working in central Cambridge.

Having been a youth worker for over 10 years I have extensive experience working with teenagers and young adults in schools, colleges and youth clubs. I now work primarily with young adults and students and am based in central Cambridge.

so what type of a counsellor am i?

Firstly, I am a normal person! I have benefited from counselling myself and know it can be extremely powerful. I work hard to make sure counselling isn’t weird or intimidating and that you feel safe enough to open up when you want to. Whilst counselling can be scary it can really help things get better.

You lead the sessions and talk about whatever you want to- these are your sessions and they are for your benefit, so I will respect your pace, subject matter and opinions. Together we will create a safe environment for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences and choices. As well as talking, I sometimes use creative materials such as playing cards, post it notes, pens and paper, and objects like buttons and stones to help us explore and articulate your thoughts and feelings.

I am also committed to making counselling accessible to all. If you have any extra needs, mobility issues, hearing or sight issues or conditions such as Epilepsy or Autism Spectrum Conditions (or anything I haven’t mentioned!) I will do my very best to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. Please let me know how I can accommodate your needs.

‘Anna had a very relaxed and professional approach to the sessions. She always delivered the sessions at a pace I found comfortable and was always patient with me if I needed a more directive approach sometimes. I always felt I could express myself clearly as she made me feel at easy from the very first moment…’

Quote from client

sessions

Counselling sessions are 50 minutes and are offered at a set time each week.  The usual arrangement is to meet weekly, for either a stated limited period, or an open-ended length of time.

I offer both short term work (6 sessions) and open-ended work, so you can decide what suits you best.  If you are not sure, then we can talk this through when we meet and arrangement something together.

FEES

My standard fee is £50 per session.

Concessions are available for students and those on low incomes- please contact me directly about this.  You can pay by cash, cheque, bank transfer or by card.  You can block-book sessions and pay for them upfront, or you can pay-as-you-go.

LOCATION

I work from a city centre location in CB4, just off Chesterton Road in north Cambridge.

CONFIDENTIALITY

All sessions will be confidential- this is a key part of the counselling process. If I think you are at risk of harming yourself or harming others, then I may need to widen confidentiality to get you the help and support that you need or to comply with current legislation. Wherever possible I will talk with you first if I think this might happen.
